Heritage Park Pavilion

Many members of the Palmerston Lions worked extremely hard this summer in the park. They built 32 tables, installed 27 lights, recoated the asphalt on the sports pad, installed new basketball and hockey nets, and continued to expand the brick pathway. The biggest accomplishment though was building the new pavilion, now complete except for eavestroughing and ceiling. The Lions were assisted by members of the Palmerston Fire Department as well as some community volunteers. Heartfelt thanks to all who helped.

Palmerston Lions Heritage Park

 Community Pride in Action

It took three years, dozens of volunteers and thousands of hours of hard work. The results speak for themselves. What was once a run down field of weeds has been transformed into a beautiful multi-purpose community park. There's a splash pad and playground for kids and a sports pad for basketball and ball hockey. There's picnic tables, benches and a full-size pavilion for family gatherings. There's a brick-paved, fully lit path wending its way from Old 81 on Main Street to the Fire Station on King Street. There's numerous historical plaques dotted around the park to provide a glimpse of the past. And of course there's the restored railway station (now the Palmerston Railway Museum) and the recently refurbished pedestrian railway bridge, the best - and perhaps the only one - left in Ontario.
